Almost all commodities nowadays have been rising in the market. Lately, it has been an issue of the day about the fast rising of prices of rice per kilo which is a result of low supply. This scenario is a result of less supply of rice from foreign countries like Vietnam and China, which are the primary importer of rice in the Philippines. Aside from that, most ricefields before has been converted to a banana plantation because growers can gain much more than that of planting rice.
As a result, the rice cereal are no longer enough to supply the needs of Filipinos everyday. However, I believe that despite of all these odds, Filipinos can still survive by way of being industrious and thrifty at all times. We need to tighten our belt in spending our income for those important needs only. Extravagance should be avoided, so to fight increasing prices of basic commodities. If in case, we have a parcel of land even if it is of little area, we should utilized it into farming crops and vegetables, so not to purchase anymore in the market. Government and its people should work hand in hand in order to maintain a decent living even if like a vessel, the nation is navigating in a rough water.
It is my greatest dream even when I was still a teenager, to watch Philippine Basketball Players play in personal. Since I lived in the province, Davao Oriental, its is quite impossible for me to do it, for it is expensive to go to Manila just to watch only the game.(I have not even go to Manila even once, until these days). Several years have gone, this dream I have become a reality.
I have now settled down in Panabo City one of the cities of Davao Del Norte Province, since my wife is a resident in this place, which prompted me also to live here. Recently, the City Government of Panabo City, in line with the celebration of Araw ng Panabo festivities( March 29-31,2008) has sponsored the PBA game of Talk in Text Phonepals versus Coca-cola Tigers. I grabbed the opportunity to watch for its been my longtime dream to watch it. Especially their tickets were sold on an affordable basis, 150 pesos for upper box and 6oo pesos on the ringside. I chose only the affordable one, considering also my capacity to pay.
When I was already watching the action between the two teams, I really enjoyed which sometime made me shout out of excitement and joy with that game. Their set play are really so different than those local players set play I saw. In the end, it was Coca-cola tigers declared winner with ten points lead against their opponent. When I go out from the gymnasium, I felt like a winner also having been given a chance to watch that game, having a dream comes true.
Few days ago, I file sick leave from work because of sore eyes illness. This started from a red eyes, which resulted to a serious sickness. I visited a physician for possible medication. The doctor asked me how does it started, I replied that it just came accidentally. I asked the doctor what is the common reason of such illness, then he explained that commonly the primary cause of sore eyes emanated from air pollution which anti bodies of our human body was not able to combat, so much so that it resulted to a sore eyes. I told the doctor likewise that I am riding a motorcycle everyday as means of transportation, which he advised me also to wear a sunglasses or any kind of gear to protect my eyes, for those who always ride a motorcycle are prone to a bacterial infection of eye due to exposure to ashes.
Although I suffer a lot from that illness but I learned a lesson to have protection while riding my motorcycle. Furthermore, we need to keep healthy at all times, because it will ruin our time and money the moment we have an illness even as simple as sore eyes only.
I spent a happy holidays during Holy Week whereby my children, wife and I have been together for four days. This experience has made me so happy since my family live in the mountainside where my wife is assigned as public school teacher. Usually, we spent together which lasted only for two days every weekends. As we celebrate the Lenten Season, we participated the church activities, attended mass and confession. How happy life is when you’re only concern is to eat and rest and no burden and problems in work like that of working days where I am so preoccupied with different activities in the office. We need to really take a break sometime in order to regain strength and energy, and also to unwind, in our daily existence in this busy world.
Speculations of the up coming fight between Manny Paquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez has it that Marquez would be the winner. During their press conference, Marquez, a native from Mexican has express his excitement and preparation in order to win this fight. According to him, this is the most important fight of his career especially Pacquaio has been marked as Mexican Killer considering many fights between him and those legendary fighters like Barrera and Morales. Of course, our pambansang kamao will not take this fight for granted. Pacquaio should not under estimate also the capacity of his opponent for Marquez is also known as faster and clever fighter.
Lets wait come March 16, Philippine time, who will remain standing between Paquiao and Marquez.
Last Sunday’s gospel talked about the death of Lazaro, who happens to be the best friend of Christ. This gospel tackles the reality of death and resurrection among mankind. Martha and Maria have exclaimed regrets why Jesus has not come, that time when Lazaro was having an illness. For they believe that he can save their brother, should Christ was around. But Jesus went directly to the tomb and commanded Lazaro to come out, and it did. Lazaro has been risen from death and resurrected to life.
This gospel entails among the hearts and minds of believers what God has promised which is life after death. Although it is painful to accept the reality of death, especially no one knows when it will come to us, and we do not know likewise in what way we will die. There are those people who died not by illness or accident, but by means of bomb explosion in malls, churches, public places, which is a by product of terroristic attacks. However, we will always abide with our faith and thereby live according to the gospel, for there is also a reality of heavenly heritage, a place where sorrow and pain have no place…………………
Last night, my friend, who is a priest and I, did have a dinner purposely for me to endorse the son of my kumpare, who wants to work in the convent as working student. It happens that this friend of mine is a procurator at bishop’s residence in Davao City so much so that I opted to consult him about this matter, something that he responded positively.
Along the line of our conversation, it reached to a point where I ask him, Father what is the best thing to do so to enter the gate of heaven? My friend simply smiles and answered, doing good things to our fellowmen, to brothers and sisters, is one of the assurances to inherit the kingdom of heaven. He continued saying that doing such things will make the Lord happy, and it can erase our sins everyday in our lives. Like giving to the needy, proclaiming the gospel by means of living the word of God, in words and in deeds. These are the things that matters and help us go to heaven after death, according to him.
I was so happy to note such important religious guidance from my friend whom I consider as my dearest friend. In that way, I realized that when we are doing good to others we cannot benefit from it right away, but the reward time will come, is something where gold and silver cannot buy. Godbless………………..
The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines or CBCP is the most influential religious group in the country considering the great number of Roman Catholic believers. This group is composed of Bishops from all over the country. The influence of this group was proven during the time of Marcos in the persona of late Cardinal Sin whereby people, priests, nuns and many other had participated to go out in the streets rallying against tyranny and oppression at that time, in which case the late strongman has been removed in exile to Honolulu, Hawaii, without any bloody incident.
In the height of the on going controversial issue that is facing the present administration of Pres. Arroyo, militant groups have expected from CBCP the support in order to force GMA vacate Malacañang. Sadly, after all bishops have taken emergency meeting, they came up to make a pastoral letter in which they did not side between opposition or administration, but instead they encourage the people to pray, think and act.
Pray which means that in this crisis we need the intervention of God for us to be united in words and in deeds. This notion clings to the premise that the best weapon to fight evil is to pray, to somebody uphigh whom we owe everything we have. Think because we need to have a clean conviction, in helping one another. Whether opposition or administration, we need to redirect our thinking that government and its people should focus on the welfare of all. Lastly, after we have finished praying and thinking, we need to act according to its purpose so to overthrow evil and in the end goodness will prevail.
In my own, what is needed at present is that EO 464 should be invalidated so that Sec. Neri can face the Senate and answer the questions on the alledged overpricing. If there is nothing hidden from that transaction, then there is nothing to be afraid of, on their part. After all, the only quest the Senate and the people want to know, is the truth and nothing but the truth. And I hope that if Malacañang will refuse to abolish this executive order 464, maybe that is the right time to make mass actions against the government which I think is the logic of CBCP recommendation, to act…………………………………..
It was the year 1986 where Edsa I has been part of Philippine history whereby the Filipino people have fought against the government during the time of then, strongman Ferdinand Marcos. It was then, that Edsa has been remarkably celebrated for it was a peaceful means without using any armament to topple tyranny and oppression.
However, on the latest Edsas, its essence somehow deviates from the previous importance of it. Edsa before is the expression of supremacy of people over the government. But now it is only used as a weapon to advance personal and political ambitions and interests.
In commemoratING Edsa, may it reminds the Filipinos the famous line of Ninoy Aquino that the Filipino is worth dying for. May this line will always enlighten us to preserve our democracy which we owe a lot from our heroes, who offer their lives, to let us be FREE!!!!
After my graduation in college way back 1999, I then hired as office clerk in one shipping company catering services in big company exporting cavendish bananas abroad. I was assigned at the wharf since my job involves the preparation of shipping documents for an exported cargo. It was also during that time whereby my pseudo belief on such brand has been erased( I thought before that the botanical name of such fruit is Stanfilco, after knowing its a company name of Dole). It is quite amazing at first when I saw bulk of cartons delivered at the wharf considering its thousands of cartons delivered from farm everyday. And yet I found out later, that these cargoes are not yet enough to meet the order of foreign buyers. Until this time, I am still connected with a company which engaged this line of business although its no longer the one I worked before.
Realizing the potential of bananas in Mindanao region, is somewhat God given miracle so it can create job employment. An approximate 20 thousands employees excluding family members are purely dependent on banana industry in the region. Thanks that quality of such product has really passed the international standard so much so that there are a lot of big companies from different titan countries like that of Japan, Middle East and U.S have come here to invest business on banana. This is something we are happy so to earn everyday income for a living……
